Meet

Paula Romeo

Paula Romeo wants to make a difference in the lives of children by sharing with them her love of language and literature.

As a young child growing up in a bilingual household, Paula was immersed in a richly diverse world of language. This instilled in Paula an appreciation and love for language that expanded as she lived both the excitement and struggle of learning a new language and culture.

Paula wants children to become friends with language, and to play with it so that they too will come to know its power and beauty (and not be afraid of it!).  She wants them to experience the thrill of using language by drawing on their thoughts, feelings, and imaginations, to create something original.

Paula developed her Reader’s Theater Program in 2011, when using it to strengthen the literacy skills of 2nd graders in a New York City school which served a diverse group of children, many whose families were connected with the United Nations, while completing her master’s degree in Literacy at Teacher's College, Columbia University.
